The Challenge

An experienced portfolio manager running a private book wanted the same edge a multi-strat seat gets on day one: a bench of senior analysts, a macro team, a sector team, a quant, and a risk officer, all reading the same book the PM runs and available on demand. Sell-side notes from Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and Goldman Sachs land in separate inboxes. Federal Reserve minutes, FOMC statements, BLS releases, CPI prints, and BEA GDP revisions arrive on staggered schedules. None of it is indexed against the PM's actual positions or the patterns the PM has traded around for twenty-five years. Reading the right piece at the right moment, through the lens of the current book, and then pressure-testing a sizing or timing call against that context, is the full job.

The Approach

The solution is a private research partner trained on three layers. Layer one is the PM's own history: every portfolio held, every position sized, every thesis written, every pattern the PM has traded around (mean-reversion around Fed pivots, earnings-dispersion plays into CPI, factor rotations around curve re-steepenings). Layer two is the institutional research stack: Morgan Stanley Global Strategy, JP Morgan Cross-Asset, Goldman Sachs ECS, Federal Reserve FOMC minutes and SEP, BLS monthly releases, BEA GDP releases, and selected macro desks. Layer three is a portfolio-aware synthesis layer that reads every new release through the current book. The agent is not autonomous. It produces a morning brief in the PM's voice and a pre-market position-weighted delta, then sits open for the rest of the day as an interactive partner. The PM pings it between meetings to stress-test a sizing decision, pull the priors behind a conviction, hunt for pattern analogs in the PM's own book, or pressure-test a thesis against the week's macro. Heavy decisions stay with the human. The agent sharpens the thinking that leads to them. In the PM's words: "The agent now talks like five people with PhDs who all know my investment strategy in and out."
